Bruce Springsteen, (aka The Boss) is providing halftime entertainment at tomorrow’s Superbowl. Apparently, he will be singing his new song: Working on a Dream. I heard the song the first time a few months ago but it is really starting to explode with popularity. Check out the lyrics below and the youtube version.
I am not sure what Bruce is dreaming of but I can really identify with the concept of working on or developing a dream. Most of my adult life has been spent pursuing something that God put in my heart a long time ago. It takes an incredible amount of work and tenacity to make dreams become reality. Sometimes they never materialize. Sometimes you just sort of fall into them.
I get inspiration from Springsteen’s song. It motivates me to keep dreaming and keep working. I really like how the song leaves the topic unresolved. He doesn’t get to see his dream fulfilled yet. He simply says, “And how it will be mine someday…”.
Working on a Dream
Out here the nights are long, the days are lonely
I think of you and I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
Now the cards I've drawn's a rough hand, darlin'
I straighten my back and I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
Though sometimes it feels so far away
I'm working on a dream
And how it will be mine someday
Rain pourin' down, I swing my hammer
My hands are rough from working on a dream
From working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
Though trouble can feel like it's here to stay
I'm working on a dream
Our love will chase the trouble away
[whistling interlude]
I'm working on a dream
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream
And our love will make it real someday
Sunrise come, I climb the ladder
The new day breaks and I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream
And our love will make it real someday
I'm working on a dream
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream
And our love will make it real someday
