In a heart-wrenching conversation with friends yesterday, we discussed a leader’s tendencies to fall to pride. We talked about how important it is to not take it too seriously when people praise you. My friend read from Proverbs 27:21 “The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but man is tested by the praise he receives.” (NIV) One of the greatest tests we will undergo involves our leanings toward arrogance.
Keep your ego in check. Stay humble. Remain in intimate contact with God. When people praise you, deflect the glory to God.
